What information is safe to discard?

Only derived or redundant representations. Safe: cached summaries, temporary views, UI-level groupings, duplicate references. Never safe: Decisions, original discussions, approval records, activity logs, rationale. Primary sources of intent are immutable.

How is historical intent preserved?

Through append-only, layered history: Decisions are immutable, Activity logs are append-only, Knowledge is versioned, Cleanup operations create new artefacts, not overwrite old ones. History is compressed losslessly.

Can the system undo epistemic loss?

No. Once intent is destroyed: no rollback can recover it, no AI can hallucinate it safely, no summary can replace it. That's why CompanyOS treats epistemic loss as irreversible and forbids automations that cause it.
